Another Post about Skyrim, and other things

So, a few days ago IGN posted an article about the inherent feats in each of the races in Skyrim. After reviewing them (and they are not so different from Oblivion) I think I'm still probably going to play as a Dark Elf. Although, High Elf wouldn't be so bad. The Magika regen would be nice.

I suppose in other news, I listened to an interview about the new movie 50/50 on NPR tonight while delivering and I gotta say, I'm looking forward to the movie. I'm such a huge fan of Joseph Gordon-Levett and Seth Rogen, and even though the trailer has been played to death by this point it got pretty good reviews at the Toronto Film Festival.

Lastly, is anybody else playing AOE online? I've checked it out a bit and want to play it some more. Food awaits.

What I'm listening to

Today, even though there is a variety of great music that has been released recently I find myself drawn to this

The Walk Hard soundtrack.

I absolutely love this movie. It is both hilarious and surprisingly insightful, and you get a great sense of the progression of rock music from it's beginnings to the present day. It's greatest strength would have to be it's soundtrack however, and it's all the more impressive considering that all the tracks are actually performed by John C. Reilly. Just another feather in the cap of this incredibly talented man. The soundtrack is a doozy of a package, the deluxe edition containing over forty tracks. The songs are arranged in chronological order and as a result they progress by genre, which is a natural way to listen to the album. Highlights include but are not limited to:

Walk Hard
Guilty as Charged
Let Me Hold You (Little Man)
Darling

An incredible listen. Highly recommended.

September 25th

My intentions with this blog are vague. Perhaps I'm starting this in an attempt to kick-start my writing, but more than likely I'm just looking for attention. My plans are essentially to post or discuss things that I find interesting, whether anyone follows this or not isn't really all that important. So with all that out of the way...

I'm still waiting for Skyrim.
I'm still wanting to join a good game of D&D.
I'm still wanting to write something I'm happy with.
I'm still wanting to start a band.

Skyrim, you devil you. I've been intently waiting for you for years and now that the days draw closer and my preorder is in place I find I can think of little else. Although considering the load I'm carrying this semester and the looming Grad School applications this is definitely not a good thing, but there it is. I follow every piece of news related to the game. I think I'm probably start as a Dark Elf, which is my usual Elder Scrolls race, but who knows? I may try something different for once.

D&D is something that I quite enjoyed the limited amount of time that I got to spend playing it, and I've been dying to join a good game recently. I haven't played at all since I moved to Memphis (a little under two years now) and I miss the excitement of a good party, and a DM who knows how to tell a story. As far as character is concerned I have a tendency to play a rogue or a mage. I have good luck with rogues, particularly halflings. Something about their feats, and I love their second chance. And who doesn't love a good mage?

I am a writer by trade I suppose, as I long ago gave up my music major. Since the commencement of that period I have yet to write something I feel is complete, only drafts that I tell myself I will come back to at a later time. I get the feeling that deep within the errors of my past few works there is a real story there, struggling to get out. For the first time in my life I feel like I'm starting to get somewhere. It feels like things are starting to line into place. Which is both exciting and absolutely fucking terrifying.

Lastly, the band. I play music and I love music and I want to start a band. Not much more is needed on that topic.
